Corns and Calluses

Corns and calluses are usually caused by repeated and prolonged irritation, friction or pressure on the skin. Calluses are most often found on hands and feet and form when layers of skin thicken and harden to protect the skin below from aggression. As for corns, they develop when friction occurs on somewhat circular pressure points. Their funnel shaped hard center creates intense pressure on the tissue beneath due to its pointed bottom. As opposed to calluses that are not generally harmful if you have good circulation in your feet and are healthy, corns can lead to ulcers and deep tissue damage.

Often, prevention is the best medicine, so wear comfortable well-fitted shoes and protect affected areas. SOLON Footcare offers products designed to help reduce the rubbing, friction and pressure that can cause calluses and corns to form on your feet and toes.
